PSKOV NEWS
From April 2011 Newsletter:
“Scarce..but there's Hope!”
Dr. Sasha Saari
News from Pskov? scarce! Perhaps the down-turn in world economies has something to do with this. But a spark
can be seen through the mist of negative economic swirl. We have hopes to revitalize our educational exchanges
with Pskov. Particular strengthening is seen in their merger of three institutions of higher learning into one large
university. I am waiting to learn more about how this is going to work. In this the 19th anniversary of Roanoke-
Pskov sister cities, I seek news that a Pskov student will be heading toward Ferrum and be added to a historic
registry of 22 well-remembered student predecessors.
Local plans: we will again participate in Local Colors, May, 21st. Later in the year, we will have a gathering
at Ferrum College in the fall (TBA). And it’s not too early to think of our “Russian Orthodox Christmas” party
January, 2012 as close to Jan. 7th as possible.
See you at Local Colors, Elmwood Park, May 21st, 11–5 p.m.
We’ll be under a tent! Pray for sun.
